Best breakfast spot: Rocco’s! Get a mean breakfast bap from there.
Best form of transportation: Blagging lifts off friends ‘cos I never learnt to drive.
Best skate shop: Halfords…maybe Argos.
Best record shop: More Than Music…but that’s long gone now.
Best band: The drummer from La Roux lives around that area…dope.
Best local video: “WASTED!” Video by a local from Newark’s radical Rhino Ramps park!
Best video section: Wasted – John Franklin…so gutted he turned into a hippy.
Best local – back in the day: John Franklin.
Best local – present: I don’t think there’s any left!
Best skate spot – back in the day: Mount School 4 set.
Best skate spot – present: Woolworth’s car park – Manny pads and plant gaps for days!
Best undercover spot: Morrisons multi-storey car park was the balls.
Best skatepark – back in the day: York Drive skatepark, then chav’s threw bricks at it.
Best skatepark – present: Sherwood Avenue park, only because that’s all we have left.
Best nightclub: I’ve not actually been out in Newark before, but Time & Diva sounds so stinkin’ it might be a good laugh!
Best restaurant: McDonalds, all day.
Best local slang phrase: “Kek ya moy geera or I’ll del you in the shurrah” (shut your mouth mate, or I’ll punch you in the head.)
Best point of local interest/tourist must see: We’ve got a castle that got merked many years ago, that’s about it!
Best local celebrity: Eric Pollard from Emmerdale.
Best thing about living in Newark: It’s an anagram of ‘wanker’.
