The marriage of Frank Stephens hitting up the streets of London, an Aphex Twin soundtrack and some madcap antics/filming/editing meant that Frank and Richard “Badger” Holland’s entry into the very first Day In The City VHS release back in 2001 was a definite highlight of the project.

Here’s a couple of paragraphs from Badger about getting the edit together…

“Having a real time schedule for this was no real challenge for me and Frank, we both don’t own a camera so up to Thursday, the day before, we were going to each other “f*ck”. We then got three digital cameras and thought we were saved but none of them worked at all, on the Friday we managed to get two with one battery each, so halfway through the day we had to go and recharge. It was OK though because we had a nice cup of tea.”

“Video making secrets? Well the screen is 768 by 576 pixels at 72 DPI. And the edit machines are made out of gold with little people running about inside throwing sticks at each other. Some colours you need to make broadcast safe, and it always takes ages to render, the Unabomber video had a total of 75gigs of footage.
Frank’s hair is not real.”

This oddity has been much sought after by Frank fans over the years, so enjoy the fact that this eccentric nugget of UK skate history is finally online after a decade of floating about in obscurity – click play below to get watching…

As this bunch of text reaches your eyes, we should, if all goes to plan, be on our way to Transition Extreme, Aberdeen, for the second leg of this years War Of The Thistles weekender. If you’re lucky, footage from yesterdays comp at Dumbarton might already be on the site – head back to front page to check. Be sure to keep an eye on the site over the next twenty four hours for all the highlights from todays stop in The Granite City too.

Anyway, for something completely unrelated to the weekends Scotland antics, we decided to once again honour the sheer brilliance of Mark Channer’s low key London skateboarding, bringing you his last full part proper that appeared on the second full length Unabomber production, “Headcleaner”, released a whole decade back in 2001. Engage your eyes, sit yourself back and click play below to get involved…

To coincide with the epic Liverpool scene article that can be found occupying a large chunk of the latest issue of the mag, Ash Wilson from Lost Art Skateshop has hooked us up with a copy of the infamous yet super rare 2001/2001 Liverpool scene video “Kenobeds” to share with the world. Featuring never before seen footage from the likes of Mackey, Ash Wilson, Howard Cooke, John Dalton, Kingy, Joel O’Connor and plenty of others, Kenobeds was only produced in two runs of 50 and mainly circulated amongst friends, meaning copies of it barely left Liverpool.

Ash tracked down “French” Fred Bezombes, the man responsible for the creation of Kenobeds, to get a few words on the video…

“Kenobeds was a never meant to be a real video. I started filming my friends every now and then as a memento of my time in Liverpool. I had very little footage as we were more busy skating and having fun than filming. One day I dislocated my foot so I knew I wouldn’t be able to skate for a long time as it kept popping in and out of place.

Spring was there and summer was coming so I went out to skate spots to hang out and I started filming a lot for something to do. I decided to get at least one clip of every single one of my friends; some people managed a few clips, some have one trick, some were killing it. My foot slowly healed and I was able to film some clips too.
I know since then a lot of us went different ways, I’ve lost touch with most people in Kenobeds but every time I think of that video it brings back good memories from my old friends and it will always put a smile on my face. And to all my friends from that era, thank you for the good times.” – “French” Fred Bezombes, 2011.

Get involved now! Set aside twenty minutes of your Sunday, click play below and, for the first time, enjoy Kenobeds in full!

Serious props to Ash Wilson and Fred Bezombes for hooking this up!

So earlier this week we brought you Mark’s “Through The Eyes Of” edit, which, in amongst the variety of football related antics, saw Mark, Jerome Campbell, Danny Beall, Tom Harrison, Ash Hall and several others get the first session in at the new Sheffield DIY spot “Baineside” (or Jeromeside or Beallside depending on who you ask…), and today we bring you Mark and Joel Curtis’ joint section from Neil Chester’s classic 2001 VHS release “Steady”, predominantly filmed in and around Sheffield and South Yorkshire with a cameo from the one and only Scott Palmer.

Get more Baines in your eyes now – ram your mouse directly into the ‘play’ button below…
