Ideal Skateshop in Birmingham have just unveiled a fully loaded gallery area within their new store! The previously blank wall was screaming out for something to adorn it, and Kris, Bob and Zippy haven’t disappointed.

The gallery features the photographic work of Sidewalk photographers highlighting a cross-section of some of the most remembered shots of Birmingham skateboarders published in the magazine from the mid 1990′s up right up to the present day. Contributing photographers include Wig Worland, Sam Ashley, Leo Sharp and Chris Johnson, with classic skating from Vaughan Baker, Simon Peplow, Richard ‘Benny’ Hughes, Bob Sanderson, Kris Vile and many more.

Be sure to pop in to the shop and take a look at this display of Brummy history first hand – keep an eye on the wall for updates too, as the plan is to add to the gallery in the future with other classics, and possibly a couple of photos that have yet to be shot…

Following their looting in last Monday nights riots, Birmingham’s Ideal Skate Store is now back up and running in a temporary location elsewhere in the Custard Factory.

Kris, Zippy, Bob and the rest of the Ideal mob can now be found occupying the unit at 7 Gibb Street, so make sure to pop by and show some support the next time you’re passing through town. Also, the Ideal website has been updated with all remaining stock, so if you can’t make it to the shop in person, feel free to make a couple of purchases online instead.

Big up the Brumside Massive!

As the well publicised rioting continued to spread throughout the UK, skate shops in Manchester and Birmingham were hit by mindless looting on Monday night – after supporting the scene for more than twenty years, Ideal Skateshop in Birmingham was hit during looting in the Digbeth area, with decks and clothing been taken. Further up the M6 in Manchester, the Vans Store in the Northern Quarter could be seen getting looted on a variety of news channels, this time with shoes and clothing been stolen.

Our thoughts obviously go out Zippy, Bob, Kris and everyone else at Ideal, and Tez, Harry, Powley and the rest at the Manchester Vans Store.

Skaters in Manchester and Birmingham, be on the lookout for anyone trying to offload cheap skate product over the coming weeks and report them to the police.

Go ‘like’ the Support Ideal Facebook Page and check the footage of the Manchester Vans Store looting to see if you can help identify any of the idiots responsible.

Keeping things Brummy related, this week we bring you Sir Bob Sanderson’s brief but rad section from the debut VHS release from A Third Foot skateboards, “The A Third Foot Promo”. Enjoy…

Back in the June of 2003, the then revamped A Third Foot crew – consisting of “Ozzy Ben” Blake, Bob Sanderson, Damon Levanthal, Rich Lewis, Joe Gavin, Tom Brown, Ted Moyle and a fresh faced Kris Vile – decided to head out on a UK jaunt, taking in stops at Bristol, Bolton, Milton Keynes, Cardiff and anywhere else that took their fancy along the way.

The rabble were joined on their excursion by Manchester bred film-maker Stu Bentley, who turned the ensuing 8 days worth of footage into a hard to find banger of a tour video entitled “The Amazing A Third Foot Tour”.

Anyway, as you’ll know if you received this mornings Sunday Service newsletter, we’ve managed to come into an almost pristine copy of the seven and a half minute VHS, so decided to transfer the whole thing onto a hard-drive, then uploaded it for the rest of the world to see!

Get stuck in below as “The Amazing A Third Foot Tour” makes its long overdue online debut – plenty of rare footage awaits…
