BogginZine’s “Concrete Challenge 2012″

Jay Dords is getting involved in the current DIY revival, offering up ‘Golden Trowels’ in returns for fresh Irish concrete via the BogginZine “Concrete Challenge 2012″.

Here are the guidelines/rules/etc…

- Enter a team on the Boggin Forum, find a spot to build on, buy or borrow concrete and materials, build and skate your own concrete skate utopia.
- Winners could take home the hallowed ‘Golden Trowel’ trophy as well as have their own DIY spot to shred all day and night.
- Comp starts 1st Feb, winners announced 1st May.

Keep an eye on the Boggin Forum for updates and whatnot.

“Antifornia” – DIY Concrete Documentary with Dave Dixon

For the past seven months or so, filmmaker Sean Pointing has been regularly meeting up with East Anglian artist, grafter and The Harmony founding father Dave Dixon, documenting the evolution of his concrete DIY spot “Antifornia”.

This well shot film is more than worth ten minutes of your morning, so sit back and get watching now, as Dave talks you through the reasons why he started working on a DIY spot, building it up from it’s first humble ramp to the obscure and unique playground that it has become today.

Details are thin on the ground for this one at the minute, but the 2011 Livi “Pure Fun Skate Party” will be going down at the infamous and unforgiving Scottish concrete park over the weekend of 25th/26th June.

All you need to do is scope out the flyer to know this one’s going to be brutal – dust off your tent and head for the True North! Livingston beckons…

Help Newquay get a concrete skatepark!

With a little help from all the regular Facebook users reading this, the well weathered “Wooden Waves” skatepark in Newquay could soon be replaced by a bang up to date concrete facility!

There has been some resistance to the plans to replace the park by one group of BMXers that seems to have caused a fair few headaches in terms of getting the project off the ground, so the Newquay park locals have set up a Facebook page to harness support for the rebuild.
