Sunday Service: Joel Curtis – Landscape “Portraits” (2003)

Having ridden flow for Zero since the late 90′s, Sheffield’s Joel Curtis jumped ship in the early 2000′s to join Mark “Fos” Foster’s Organic Skateboards outfit alongside Snowy, Olly Todd and Toby Shuall, which later became the company we know today as Landscape. In 2003 Joel put out his first proper section since his opening part in Neil Chester’s 1998 Sumo Skateshop video “Through The Eyes Of Ruby”, as he laid claim once more to the first section in Landscape’s debut VHS release “Portraits”.

Still stepping to handrails, Joel was now also bringing out his quick footed tech lines, cruising spots around the North of the UK and Europe whilst skating to a classic Cure banger!

Taking it back a whole 12 years, this Sunday we decided to bring you the hefty Octagon Wheels section from Blueprint’s seminal VHS release “Waiting for the World” (2000).

Featuring the Octagon Wheels team, namely Gustav Eden, Joel Curtis, Adrian French, Jacob Sawyer, Greg Finch, Vaughan Baker, Jamie Bolland, Matt Boulton, Olly Todd, Mark Jackson, Toby Shuall and David Holguin, alongside cohorts Alan Rushbrooke, Adam Lane, Ben Dominguez, Dan Callow, Mark Skinner, Mat Fowler, Seth Curtis, Ewan Bowman and others, this 4 minute section is well worth a place in your Sunday morning.

Well, it’s pretty much been a Mark Baines themed week on the site, so we thought we might as well carry it over ’til today as well.

So earlier this week we brought you Mark’s “Through The Eyes Of” edit, which, in amongst the variety of football related antics, saw Mark, Jerome Campbell, Danny Beall, Tom Harrison, Ash Hall and several others get the first session in at the new Sheffield DIY spot “Baineside” (or Jeromeside or Beallside depending on who you ask…), and today we bring you Mark and Joel Curtis’ joint section from Neil Chester’s classic 2001 VHS release “Steady”, predominantly filmed in and around Sheffield and South Yorkshire with a cameo from the one and only Scott Palmer.
