“Dee Corr Forever” – full Belfast scene video online now!

Belfast’s resident VX wielder, Ciaran McClure, has upped sticks and relocated to the much sunnier climes of Australia for the winter, but before he left, he edited the entire contents of his hard-drive into one epic Belfast scene video in memory of the late, great Dee Corr.

“Dee Corr Forever” is online now and ready to be watched below, featuring a mixture of new and unseen footage from from Niall Creaney, Paddy Maguire, Denis Lynn, Gav Coughlan, Mark Robinson, Dion McGarrity, Keith Walsh, Danny C, Paddy Lynn, Marc Beggan, Jonny McConkey and various other Irish heads.

Copies of the video on DVD will be available – check the text below the video for details.

Sunday Service: Bernie Rea – Unabomber “Up The Rebels” (2004)

Having grown up on Market Street, Belfast, Bernie Rea was one of the most stylish and naturally gifted humans from the Emerald Isle to ever set foot on a skateboard. The small amount of footage he committed to tape over the years definitely gives you the idea of how easily skateboarding came to him, but it’s the vast amount of stories you hear about Bernie, or things that were witnessed first hand that were never documented, that will live on in Irish skate-lore forever.

First try ollies in the dark that haven’t been touched since, never-ending lines around St Anne’s purely for the sake of, and a certain level of nonchalant command over his board that drew comparisons with a certain floppy-haired Oxfordian lad.

After a solid “Haunts” in 2001, a brief stint on the post “Headcleaner” era Unabomber and several video parts on various MonkeyBird productions, Bernie vanished off into Belfast obscurity in late 00′s, but still reappears at Bridges skatepark every now again, and still has the ability to kill it without even trying.

Check his casual as you like section from the 2004 Unabomber video “Up The Rebels” by clicking the play button below, then head back to the Sidewalk site on Wednesday morning to see Bernie tear up the infamous St Anne’s plaza in the second part of Peter Adam’s amazing “St Anne’s: Full Circle” documentary.

“How Far Have We Come?” – Stu Robinson solo exhibition, opens next week…

Belfast photographer and all round top human being Stuart “Big Stu” Robinson is set to open his latest solo show, entitled “How Far Have We Come?”, next week, which takes a look at the Ulster Covenant and Northern Ireland over the course of the last century.

The exhibition opens on September 3rd at the Ulster Hall, Belfast and will be running until Saturday 29th, with the official opening event taking place on the evening of the 6th.

Stu’s work is always top shelf so this will no doubt be an exemplary collection of inspired photography – keep an eye on the event’s Facebook Page for further details…

“BogginZine Hits A Ditch” – Clynn, Dords, McConkey…

Belfast’s MonkeyBird Army teamed up with Irish lynchpin Jay Dords and went on a BogginZine approved mission to locate a ditch hidden in the hills of Carrickfergus.

Here’s a blast from the distant early 2000′s past – Belfast lesman Peter Adam has dusted off his copy of the 2001 Point Seven 5ive video and stuck it online for you lot to marvel at, featuring sections from a then unknown Conhuir Lynn, Pete Adam holding it down for the BMX community, and a full part from a seven year old pint sized Denis Lynn.

This is well worth 12 minutes of your Thursday – make time to witness this gem then take in some widely unseen Irish skateboarding from eleven years ago…
