Pioneer Skatepark’s ‘Go Skateboarding Day’ Jam – June 21st.

The 2013 Go Skateboarding Day events are starting to pile up – see below to find out what Pioneer Skatepark in St Albans have got lined up for June 21st!

Pioneer’s Girls Skate Jam 2013 – June 29th, St Albans.

Pioneer Skatepark will play host to the 12th annual Girl Skate Jam UK on Saturday 29th June between 1-6pm.

Rubicon will be putting up a £200 cash prize for the sponsored comp and Nikita will be cooking up a BBQ feast – catering for meaties, veggies and vegans alike. Neon Stash will be organising some tie dye tee-shirt action with a pop up dye session.

The day will start with a 2 hour jam for all ladies with a board, this will run between 1-3pm. This time is especially for those who are not into competing but want the chance to have a roll around the park with everyone else with no pressure. The jam will be followed by the Under 18′s comp, the Over 18′s comp and Miniramp jam. The day will be rounded off as always with the Sponsored comp.

All proceeds from the day will go to Pioneer Skatepark.

You know the St Albans comps always kick off, and the upcoming all-day event on April 6th is all set to follow in that long standing tradition!

The Girl Skate Jam UK 2012 took place at Pioneer Skatepark on Saturday 30th June. Rogue Skateboards founder Jenna Selby had once again organised a great day for girls to come out and get inspired by skateboarding. This years annual “Girl Skate Jam” will be taking place on Saturday 30th June at Pioneer Skatepark, St Albans, between 1-6pm.

As always, the day will include an open jam, under and over 18 street comps, a sponsored competition and mini ramp jamp .

Graham Baker is one of London’s best loved skateboarders, a stalwart of every event in the capital and an inspiration to all who meet him. Despite his long time battle with Asperger Syndrome, since the 1980′s Graham has become a regular face at Slam City Skates and a frequent visitor to Pioneer Skatepark, St Albans, befriending all who he encounters.

Will Robson-Scott has made a short film about Graham and his love for skating – set aside the next seven minutes of your day and prepare to be stoked…

Pioneer’s “Sports Relief” skate jam 2012 – 25th March.

Sunday March 25th is the date for Pioneer Skatepark’s 2012 “Sports Relief” jam, so if you frequent the park and feel like supporting a good cause, clear your diary and get on down to St Albans!

Doors are open 10:30am-4:30pm, with entry for the day setting you back £7 to skate or £1 to watch. All door profits will be going straight to Sports Relief.

Save Pioneer Skatepark – sign the petition!

As we posted last week, Pioneer Skatepark in St Albans is looking set to close its doors in April next year when the building that the park is currently in is handed over to new management – click here to get the full lowdown.

There is now an online petition that aims to secure the skatepark another 10-15 year lease that needs to be signed by each and every person reading this. Do so by clicking this link – Save the Pioneer Petition – or clicking the direct link below.

Save Pioneer Skatepark – do your bit!

Jenna Selby dropped us a line to let you all know that the future of the legendary Pioneer Skatepark in St Albans is currently in doubt. Read the text below then act accordingly…

“As you may or may not have heard Pioneer Skate Park has been issued a draft closing order which, when we are given the final order, will take effect on 23rd of April 2011. Herts County Council have said that Youth Connexions will take over the building and from what we can gather have no plans to keep the skatepark.

The park is receiving a lot of support, one of the users who works for local BBC is organising for a camera crew to come down on Monday 4th October between 7-10pm and we need as many people as possible to come down and show your support for the centre (even if you don’t skate but have some affiliation with it!)
