Sunday Service: Alex Moul – Raggy Clothing “Juice” (1997)

For the past few months, Alex Moul has been hitting the streets of California working on an all new web part entitled “Cruising With Mouly”. The first teaser for the section appeared a few weeks back now, though the clip is finally finished and should be online at some point tomorrow! It’s been a while since we last had a healthy dose of Mouly radness, so be sure to keep on the site tomorrow as we’ll be bringing you the clip as soon as it appears.

Keeping things Mouly related, for this weeks dose of archival gold we’ve dusted off Alex’s rare section from the 1997 Raggy Clothing video “Juice”. This part was filmed following his mid-90′s hiatus which resulted in him getting heavily involved in the world of music production and DJing, and was also released round about the same time as his classic section from the independent UK video “Playing Fields”.

Nike SB “What The Dunk” auction for the Oxford Wheels Project.

SS20 are auctioning off a pair of the ultra-ultra-rare Nike SB “What The Dunk” shoes in order to raise money for the Oxford Wheels Project.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of the shoes will be going straight to the Oxford Wheels Project, who are hoping to help get Oxford a new permanent concrete skatepark.

The “What The Dunk” shoes were produced by Nike in extremely limited numbers back in 2007 to coincide with the release of their first feature length video production “Nothing But The Truth”. These badboys are like hens teeth, so if you need to get this pair in your collection, get on the case now and know your hard earned loot is helping out the Oxford skate scene. Click below…

Sunday Service: Jamie Turnbull’s “Wide Eyed World” (1993)

After Jamie Turnbull himself appeared on the Sidewalk Forum wondering if his 1993 independent UK classic “Wide Eyed World” had been posted online anywhere yet, Mark Nicolson took it upon himself step to the plate and used a rainy day to digitise the full video for the rest of the world to see.

In case you are unaware, clocking in at a little over fifteen minutes in length, Wide Eyed World is a pretty important homegrown history lesson from a time when it was almost an annual event that someone put out a UK video, and, if common lore is to be believed, then it is also one of the first (if not the first) entirely independent UK productions, released the year before Mike Manzoori’s “Sound and Vision” which we previously shared with you at the start of 2011.

Primarily made up of montages featuring plenty of the regular heads in the UK scene at the time, including the likes of Alan Rushbrooke, Mark Baines, Ali Cairns, Neil Urwin, Matt Harfield, Simon Skipp, Dan Magee, Luke McKirdy, Matt Pritchard, Danny Wainwright, Colin Kennedy, Carl Shipman and Dave Allen, Wide Eyed World can be located waiting for you right below this very text! Sunday Service: “Kenobeds” – full Liverpool scene video (2001/2002)

To coincide with the epic Liverpool scene article that can be found occupying a large chunk of the latest issue of the mag, Ash Wilson from Lost Art Skateshop has hooked us up with a copy of the infamous yet super rare 2001/2001 Liverpool scene video “Kenobeds” to share with the world. Featuring never before seen footage from the likes of Mackey, Ash Wilson, Howard Cooke, John Dalton, Kingy, Joel O’Connor and plenty of others, Kenobeds was only produced in two runs of 50 and mainly circulated amongst friends, meaning copies of it barely left Liverpool.

Ash tracked down “French” Fred Bezombes, the man responsible for the creation of Kenobeds, to get a few words on the video…

“Kenobeds was a never meant to be a real video. I started filming my friends every now and then as a memento of my time in Liverpool. I had very little footage as we were more busy skating and having fun than filming. One day I dislocated my foot so I knew I wouldn’t be able to skate for a long time as it kept popping in and out of place.

Spring was there and summer was coming so I went out to skate spots to hang out and I started filming a lot for something to do. I decided to get at least one clip of every single one of my friends; some people managed a few clips, some have one trick, some were killing it. My foot slowly healed and I was able to film some clips too. I know since then a lot of us went different ways, I’ve lost touch with most people in Kenobeds but every time I think of that video it brings back good memories from my old friends and it will always put a smile on my face. And to all my friends from that era, thank you for the good times.” – “French” Fred Bezombes, 2011.

Sunday Service: Tom Penny – Exclusive 1990′s UK Mixtape!

Most of you probably won’t be aware, but this morning we should have managed to send out our 300th Sunday Service newsletter!

To celebrate this somewhat of a landmark, we decided to bring you something a little bit more on the special side than simply uploading an old section that ties in with the displayed photo on the email. This week, we’ve been properly rummaging around in the VHS archive and have pieced together an ever fashionable “Remix/Mixtape” comprised of some super rare Tom Penny footage that could be found spread out across numerous hard to find early-to-mid 1990′s UK videos.

A couple of tricks here and there have surfaced elsewhere online over the years, but this lot comes straight from its original source, all of it is British footage, and none of it can be currently found on any of the other Tom Penny Mixtapes doing the internet rounds. There’s even a Flip-era Andy Scott cameo thrown in, too.

Tom Penny – Rare 1994 Radlands Footage

Taken from a super rare Radlands produced VHS video comes eight minutes of largely unseen Tom Penny footage, filmed on the day of the 1994 comp at the legendary Northampton skatepark.

Bits and pieces of Tom’s footage from this specific comp have appeared on a variety of videos over the years, but nothing anywhere near as comprehensive as this…

Sunday Service: Danny Wainwright – “Bristol Zoo” (1997)

This weeks rummage around in the archive has seen us come through with a rare section from the 1997 debut VHS release from Bristol’s Fifty-Fifty skate store, by way of a short but banger filled part from co-owner, then Powell Skateboards pro and all round UK legend Danny Wainwright.
