“Back in June 2011, much loved Cumbrian skater and filmer Will Appleby tragically passed away after a night out in Bristol where he attended university. A year later I finished making a film dedicated to Will entitled ‘Those Who’ve Sailed With Me’. It features Will and all his friends from Cumbria and Bristol including Alex Appleby, Owen Godbert, Ste Fletcher, Robbie Tattershall, Jordan Watson, Channon Wallace, Hasan Kamil and Ed Berriman, as well as footage from the first ‘Skate For Will’ jam back in July 2011 in Will’s hometown of Ulverston, Cumbria. Will is as passionate about skating and filming as anyone could be and his talent and hard work always shone through; an amazing friend and incredible brother. This is his first full-section made up of footage from when he first started skating to his time in Bristol – the other sections are also available on YouTube and Mpora. Thanks for watching.”

Skateboarding took a massive unexpected hit late last week, with the sad and untimely passing of Lewis Marnell.

Lewis’ mother issued the following statement over the weekend:

“FYI and to clear up any quandries relating to Lewis’ s sad & untimely passing, he had a massive hypoglycemic reaction which did not respond to ingested glucose. He was at home and was discovered by his wife around 6.30 on Friday night Melb time. It was not possible to resuscitate him and we are all still trying to come to terms with this tragedy. We ask everybody to send out thoughts and prayers of love and comfort. Please keep his memory alive and let this not be a terrible waste”

RIP Lewis, you’ll be greatly missed mate.

Santa Cruz and Adrenaline pro turned skate photographer Jaya Bonderov sadly passed away yesterday.

Newport Skatepark’s “RIP Jam” – Collins, Pulley, Habgood…

As we previously reported on the site, Newport’s existing skatepark is set to be demolished in the near future, so last weekend the Newport crew and friends from further afield gave the place a proper send off with one hectic RIP Jam.

The Derby scene was out in force on Tuesday to celebrate the life of local skater Ashley Finlay, who tragically passed away during the early hours of Monday morning.

David “Dee” Corr Memorial Jam – Belfast Bridges Skatepark, April 7th.

The Belfast skate scene has come together to organise a skate jam in memory of local ripper David “Dee” Corr, who sadly passed away late last week.

Get along to Bridges Skatepark on Saturday April 7th from 12:30pm to shred in memory of Dee. Entry will cost £1 with all proceeds covering the cost of a plaque for Dee at the park, with donations also being taken for the charity Carlisle House. There will also be various best trick style comps throughout the day with prizes and trophies up for grabs.

Nic at Power Distribution has released the last graphic Dean “Bod” Brodrick designed for Death Skateboards before he sadly passed away earlier this year.

The decks are now in the country and should be available from your local stockist in both 8″ and 8.25″, with all royalties from the decks going to Bod’s partner Sarah and their daughter Poppy – go forth and proudly represent!
