Sidewalk 191: Flip Skateboards in the UK – Extension part 1.

Earlier this summer (used in the loosest sense of the term) a collection of the Flip Skateboards rabble descended upon the UK for a brief 36 hour stint, taking in the much publicised demo at Hemel Hempstead and a day of attacking concrete found around London in-between rainstorms.

The crew included Tom Penny, Ben Nordberg, Rune Glifberg, Luan Oliveira, Louie Lopez, Curren Caples, Greyson Fletcher and Lance Mountain, alongside Ian Deacon, Jeremy Fox and various other friends and family types.

As you’ll have seen if you’ve picked up the latest issue of the mag, Chris Johnson was on the case as ever and has come through with another two part “Extension”, made up of unused photos and behind the scenes style shots from the mission. Browse Part 1 below now then check back tomorrow for more…

FlipExt1flash That's a "Peace Out" from Tom! A Solar Powered reunion - Harry Bastard and Andy Evans. We headed over to Tottenham to get the last of the days sunlight, but were obviously greeted by rain. Tom hyped on his new whip. One time Flip TM Harry and young Curren Caples - both stoked to not be in the van. Morph was hyped on a mental few hours in the sun filming Rom getting destroyed. Off to Saffron Walden then... Water drained, final checks that the cover is safely in place and we're back in business. Well, it has been the wettest summer on record. Dion stepped in and sorted out the rising water situation... Lance warmed up, casting some classic shadows beneath him. Curren getting geared up for a heavy session at Romford. The skatepark is more than twice his age...

Last Thursday night, Brett Dye managed to spend a bit of time in the company of the Flip Skateboards team during their fleeting visit to Hemel Hempstead. Listen on below to see what happened when Brett sat down with Jeremy Fox, Lance Mountain, Ben Nordberg, Tom Penny, Curren Caples and Louie Lopez, with a bit of commentary from Josh Young.

We’ve been waiting on final ticket info before making too much noise about this one, but next Thursday, July 12th, the Flip Skateboards crew will be descending upon The XC in Hemel Hempstead for their first UK demo in four years.

Expect to see the park getting annihilated by the likes of Luan Oliveira, Tom Penny, Lance Mountain, Louie Lopez, Curren Caples, Ben Nordberg, Greyson Fletcher, Geoff Rowley and Rune Glifberg.

The demo starts at 7pm so get there early to avoid disappointment as this one will most definitely kick off!

Sidewalk x Santa Cruz “Xmas Pool Party” – Hemel Hempstead, Dec 18th.

Feeling in the mood for a bit of a festive bowl bash? If the answer is ‘yes’ then get yourself involved in the Sidewalk x Santa Cruz “Xmas Pool Party” which will be taking place at The XC Skatepark, Hemel Hempstead, on Sunday December 18th.

The shindig kicks off at 7pm and will run until 10pm, with an under 16′s bowl bash, over 16′s pool party and a girl’s mini ramp jam, with a Santa’s Cruz Grotto dishing out presents for all and a live DJ spinning ear-pleases all night long.
